Stop Sign & Improper Turn Tickets

Failure to stop or making an illegal turn are common traffic offences in Ontario. They can lead to significant fines and demerit points.

The fine for a stop sign ticket is $110.00 plus a victim surcharge. For an improper turn, the fine is approximately $110.00 as well.

Demerit Points

Both stop sign and improper turn tickets carry 3 demerit points each. These points will stay on your driving record for two years from the date of the offence.

Insurance Impact

These offences are considered "minor" by most insurance companies. However, multiple minor convictions can lead to a 20-50% increase in your premiums for three years.
