Accessibility at NEO: working toward WCAG 2.1 AA

We want everyone to be able to use our website and client portal, including people who use screen readers, keyboards or magnification. We are working toward the WCAG 2.1 AA standard.

Hands stacked together in a show of unity

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) are the international standard for accessible websites. Level AA is the level most organizations aim for. Ontario's accessibility law (AODA) requires larger organizations to meet WCAG standards; NEO is a small firm and is working toward WCAG 2.1 AA voluntarily, because legal help should be accessible.

Many hands joined together

We say "working toward" because we have not had an independent audit, and we keep finding things to improve.

Examples of the work so far

  • Interactive controls carry labels that screen readers can read, and pages can be navigated with a keyboard.
  • Images carry descriptions (alt text), and text is sized to be readable on a phone.
  • Animations are reduced for people who have asked their device to reduce motion.
  • Pages are designed to work at phone width without sideways scrolling.

Accommodation in your matter

Beyond the website, we can arrange accommodation for meetings, documents and hearings, such as more time, large-print documents, or video or phone meetings. Courts and tribunals also have accommodation processes, and we can help you make a request.

Tell us about a barrier

If something on our site doesn't work for you, please tell us, and we will provide the information another way while we fix it. Read our Accessibility Policy.
