How NEO encrypts your information in transit and at rest

Everything you send NEO, from a consultation form to a scanned lease, travels over an encrypted connection and is stored encrypted on the servers that hold it.

Encryption turns information into code that can only be read with the right key. NEO uses it at two stages: while your information moves between your device and our systems (in transit), and while it is stored (at rest).

In transit

  • Every page of neolegalservices.com and the client portal loads over HTTPS. Older, weaker connection methods are refused, and browsers are told to use only secure connections to our site.
  • Files you upload in the portal, and documents we share with you, move over the same encrypted connection.
  • Email is protected in transit where the receiving mail server supports it, which most major providers do. For sensitive documents, we use the portal rather than email attachments.

At rest

  • Our client database is hosted on Google Cloud in Toronto, where data is encrypted at rest by default.
  • Documents and identity images are kept in private storage that is encrypted at rest. They are not reachable by a public web address: a file opens only for a signed-in person who is allowed to see it.

What encryption does not replace

Working on documents and a laptop

Encryption protects information from people who intercept or copy it. It works alongside the other safeguards we use: sign-in for every client and staff member, access limited by role, and our professional duty of confidentiality.

Read our Privacy Policy for how we collect, use and keep personal information.
