No hidden fees: what NEO's prices include

You should never be surprised by a legal bill. NEO sets out every fee before work starts, shows taxes and disbursements separately, and agrees any change with you first.

A hidden fee is a charge you didn't know about when you agreed to the work. NEO avoids them by putting everything in writing.

Before work starts

  • The fee for the work is in your written retainer agreement.
  • The retainer lists what is included and what is not.
  • Disbursements you are likely to need, such as court or tribunal filing fees, are listed with their amounts where known.

On every invoice

  • Our fee, HST, and each disbursement on its own line.
  • Any money held in trust for you, and how it has been applied.

If your matter changes

Legal matters can change: the other side may file a claim of its own, or a hearing may be adjourned. If extra work outside your retainer is needed, we explain why and what it will cost, and wait for your agreement before doing it.

Ask us

If you're not sure whether something is included, ask before the work is done: the answer will be in writing.
