When a file needs a step that a licensed paralegal is permitted to take, you can instruct our firm as your agent for that one task while the file stays with you.
What you can expect when you instruct us on a single step.
You tell us the step you need, such as an attendance, a filing or serving documents, and we handle that step only.
You remain on the record and responsible for the matter. We act on your instructions and report back to you when the step is done.
We take on only tasks a licensed paralegal is permitted to do in Ontario. If a task falls outside that, we tell you and decline it.
Before any work, we agree the scope, fee and timing with you in writing, and the terms name the paralegal licensee who will do it.
Whether a task is within paralegal scope depends on the court or tribunal and the matter (the Law Society of Ontario’s By-Law 4 sets the limits). We check each request against those limits before we agree to it.
Nothing is accepted automatically. A person reads every request.
Use the form below. Give us the names of the parties for our conflict check, and leave out any other confidential details for now.
We confirm the task is one a licensed paralegal is permitted to do, our staff run a conflict check by hand on the names you gave us, and we check that we can cover the date.
The scope, fee and timing are set out in writing with you, and the written terms name the paralegal licensee who will do the task. No work starts before then.
We carry out the task as instructed and tell you how it went, including anything you need to act on. The matter and the client remain yours throughout.
The request below is for asking us to take on a task. If you would like us to consider recommending you to clients, please send a request to receive referrals.
The details we need to check scope and conflicts and to reply to you.
Sending this form does not create an agency arrangement, a retainer or any other relationship, and we may decline any request. If a date is very close, please also call us on 647-200-3526. This page is general information, not legal advice. We are NEO Legal Services Professional Corporation, a licensed paralegal firm (Mo. Farooqui, Licensed Paralegal, LSO licence P21785), not a law firm, and we work on Ontario matters only.
