Frequently asked questions
How much does it cost?+
The fee is $3,500 plus 13% HST ($3,955.00 in all) for the work described on this page. Court, tribunal or government fees and other disbursements are extra. We confirm the scope and the fee in a written retainer agreement before any work starts.
What happens when I check out?+
You book a time for your intake call, then save a card on Stripe's secure page. Nothing is charged today: the card is only charged later, for an invoice for work already done, as your retainer agreement sets out. A licensed paralegal confirms the details, checks for conflicts of interest and, if we can act for you, sends the retainer agreement. Fees paid before the work is done are held in our trust account.
Can the firm file the judicial review?+
No. Only a lawyer may represent you in the Federal Court. The firm organizes your documents and can refer you to an Ontario lawyer, who confirms the scope and sets and bills the fee for the court work.
Does the court make a new decision on my application?+
Usually not. The court checks whether the decision was reasonable and fair; if it finds a problem, the matter is usually sent back for a new decision.
What if the deadline has nearly passed?+
Contact the firm or a lawyer right away. A late application needs a request for more time, which the lawyer would make and the court may refuse.
General information only, not legal advice. NEO Legal Services Professional Corporation is a licensed paralegal firm regulated by the Law Society of Ontario.
Important limitations
No outcome can be guaranteed; IRCC and the Immigration and Refugee Board make the decisions
Information must be complete and truthful; misrepresentation may lead to a refusal and a five-year bar
Deadlines in IRCC letters must be met, and missing one may lead to a refusal or a closed file
A licensed paralegal may represent you before IRCC and the Immigration and Refugee Board, but not in the Federal Court, so the firm refers judicial reviews and any other work outside a paralegal's scope to an Ontario lawyer.
