Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost?

The fee is $100 plus 13% HST ($113.00 in all) for the work described on this page. Court, tribunal or government fees and other disbursements are extra. We confirm the scope and the fee in a written retainer agreement before any work starts.

What happens when I check out?

You book a time for your intake call, then save a card on Stripe's secure page. Nothing is charged today: the card is only charged later, for an invoice for work already done, as your retainer agreement sets out. A licensed paralegal confirms the details, checks for conflicts of interest and, if we can act for you, sends the retainer agreement. Fees paid before the work is done are held in our trust account.

Do you check my documents for legal errors?

Not as part of filing or service. We check that they are complete and in the accepted form; a legal review is a separate service.

Where can you file?

At Ontario courts and tribunals, in person where needed or through online filing where it is available. In a court where a licensed paralegal may not act for you, such as the Superior Court of Justice outside Small Claims Court, we only file documents you or your lawyer prepared.

Can the court office refuse my documents?

Yes. A court office may refuse a document that is unsigned, incomplete or not in the required form. We tell you if that happens and what needs fixing.

General information only, not legal advice. NEO Legal Services Professional Corporation is a licensed paralegal firm regulated by the Law Society of Ontario.

Important limitations

  • The service covers filing or service only, not advice on the documents
  • A court office may refuse a document that is not in the required form
  • Filing and service deadlines are set by the rules, so documents need to reach us in time to meet them
  • In a court or tribunal where a licensed paralegal may not act for you, such as the Superior Court of Justice outside Small Claims Court, the service covers only filing or serving documents you or your lawyer prepared, with no advice on them.
